Czech lawmaker proposes prostitution tax | World | RIA Novosti

Sounds like a great idea to me. You can say what you want, but prostitution has been around since the dawn of time. In most of the US, it is illegal so instead of being regulated by health services and taxed by the government, we simply charge the taxpayer with health care costs and enforcement.

A Czech lawmaker proposed to raise budget income by introducing a tax on prostitution, the Czech Radio said on Monday.

460 days left until Judgement Day II

Let me paraphrase … “Senator McConnell said this morning that he is ‘very close’ to recommending the GOP death warrant.”

Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, said Sunday morning that he is “very close” to recommending to his members that they sign on to a debt deal with President Obama and the Democrats.

27 Rifles Stolen from California Military Base

I guess my question is why did the Army have 27 AK-74 rifles in the first place? I don’t think they are what the Army is using as its standard equipment rifle these days.

FORT IRWIN, CALIF. –  More than two dozen assault rifles have been stolen from a Southern California military base, and investigators sought the public’s help as they looked to arrest suspects and recover the weapons, federal officials said Friday.

Twenty-six AK-74 assault rifles and one Dragunov sniper rifle were stolen from a supply warehouse at Fort Irwin in San Bernardino County on July 15, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says in a statement.

Sources: Emerging debt deal calls for up to $2.8 trillion

Unacceptable! The National Debt has increased more than that in the past 3 years under Obama. The ONLY acceptable solution is to spend no more money than the government takes in. Otherwise, the debt will continue to grow. So if they are proposing cutting the debt and are serious, why not stop the spending now?

Washington (CNN) — With the deadline to reach a debt ceiling agreement just two days away, congressional leaders and the White House are mulling parts of a tentative deal that would extend the debt limit through next year.

The framework of the emerging deal to raise the nation’s debt ceiling calls for up to $2.8 trillion in total deficit reduction over the next decade, two sources familiar with the negotiations told CNN late Saturday night.

Pelosi: Boehner went to ‘dark side’

Darn, she is the one who looks like Darth Vader ….

Right before the House voted to reject a Democratic debt-ceiling plan, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi didn’t mince words.

Pelosi pulled out a Star Wars reference on the House floor, saying that Speaker John Boehner “chose to go to the dark side” and court the most conservative members of his conference, rather than work on a bipartisan compromise.

The 5th Annual Memphis Interfaith Dinner (Celebrate Iftar)

Ah yes, once again Ramadan is upon us. I would encourage everyone to attend at least one Ramadan service in their life, preferably with a Muslim friend (or two) who can explain what is going on and why.

Growing up Muslim in the Memphis area wasn’t always easy, especially during the month of Ramadan, but it was a rich and fulfilling experience.

When you practice a faith that your friends, classmates and sometimes even your teachers are largely unfamiliar with, it can create some funny moments.

One day at Riverdale Elementary, a close friend asked me why I was absent on the previous day, which happened to be Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic holiday that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

I explained, and he responded: “So, wait … Muslims are not Christian?”

Obama approval rating hits all-time low

If you think 40% is bad, just wait until the “taliban” get done with him next year ….

A new poll shows that President Barack Obama’s approval rating has plummeted to a new low as talks to raise the debt ceiling stalled and the president stayed out of the public eye after a Monday night speech through early Friday.

The president’s average approval rating on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday was 40 percent in Gallup’s daily tracking poll released on Friday. His approval rating averaged 46 percent in June, and was at about the same level for most of July.
